PETER BAGGS - Independent

VOTING FOR CHANGE

"Making sure your vote really counts"

MPs have no statutory obligation to voters.

Truly many of them seem to feel that once elected they have carte blanche to ignore the voter until the next election. The Commons code of conduct states that they have a 'general duty to act in the interests of the nation as a whole; and a special duty to their constituents'.

The leaders of the main parties decide what our interests are and that seems to be an end to it. To be fair most MPs do spend a lot of time considering the needs of their constituents but their hands seem to be tied by Party demands when it comes to considering the bigger issues of the day.

I would like you to consider whether MPs should be obliged to obey the wishes of the majority of their constituents rather than the instructions of the few ministers/shadow ministers.

Many are the times when called upon to vote in commons MPs follow their rulers in the way the house is divided; Labour one side, Conservatives the other.

Wouldn't it be better if MPs voted the way their constituents wished? Wouldn't that give us a say in our own destiny? At all of the next elections let's make it so.

THIS IS ME AND MY VISION ....

Hi, my name's Peter Baggs, married these last 23 years, 59 years of age and until now quite happy in my role of plastering contractor. Recently, I have become annoyed by the politicians who instead of ruling for us seem intent on ruling over us and our wishes. It seemed the only way of changing this was a bloody revolution, but we are British and that would not do.

Then it occurred to me that it will be possible to have a revolution in a peaceful way, assuming that we are fed up with the way things are, if we are willing to make the effort to use the constitution to change it. So I have set up this website as the first step on the way for us to rule our own country using the technology we have developed over the last decade or two.

The main way our MPs get to be MPs is by joining a political party and making their way up through the ranks of fellow politicos until they are picked as a prospective candidate. By and large they are then expected to follow the party line, which as we all know isn't necessarily a good thing.

Labour wants us to vote them back in so they can carry on with their plan (after all this time I still don't know what that is) and the Conservatives say "Remember, a vote for the Conservatives is the only way to change our Government." Well actually it's not, a better way would be for us to choose real representatives who would respect and obey the majorities’ wishes and run this country for us accordingly.

Yeah! M.P.s are a bloody disgrace. All they want to do is furthur their own gain, with no intrest towards what the voters want. I say we let a man who's going to listen to us into polotics.
